organising such a wonderful tour for us. Our guide, Ali, was
the best we have ever had - he was so professional and efficient and nothing
was too much trouble for him. He took us to some great restaurants in
Tripoli - the fish soup and fresh giant prawns at the Fish Market
restaurant were particularly memorable. The weather was
fantastic - the sun shone all day every day and the temperature, in the low
20s, was perfect for exploring the archaeological sites. It's hard
to choose a highlight - Sabratha and Leptis Magna were magnificent, but the
Berber granaries were stunning too and the old medina at Ghadames is a simply
magical place: our hotel was very close to the entrance and we enjoyed
pottering about there on our own soaking up the atmosphere in the tranquility
of the early evening. As for the sunset over the dunes - we still can't
decide which of the eight photos we took captures it best and have kept them
